Whilst there are many insurers offering medical insurance, one or 2 are better than others.
This is not revolutionary as in all product and service markets, someones is always the best.
Major Insurance company Medical cover is fundamentally aimed at the cost of surgery.
Protecting you against the high costs of unexpected surgery, hospitalisation and specialist care.
Whilst this doesn’t cover visits to your GP or prescription costs, those are minor and pretty much quantifiable amount-wise.
However, surgery can be very expensive and more so if you want the best and now !!!
So the best medical polices take care of the full costs (less your specified policy excess) of surgery, hospitalisation and specialist costs.
Things that determine who’s medical Insurance cover is best include;
• Maximum Annual ceiling spend
• Excess levels
• Full specialist and test options
• Recurring claimability
• Reset and post claim options
• Childrens cover bundled into parents
• Medsafe & non-pharmac option.
The Medsafe & Non-pharmac option is by far the most important and beneficial option.
In my view any insurers Medical Insurance cover that includes this full Medsafe drug cover, is the only one to consider.
Currently there are only 2 NZ Insurers who do include this full Medsafe & Non-Pharmac drug cover in their medical insurance;
Onepath and Partnerslife.
So in reality these are the only 2 medical covers to consider.
